This series is my visual interpretation of the short story “Garden of Stubborn Cats” by Italo Calvino. The narrative explores the conflict between urban spaces and natural spaces, to present a message about the effects of industrialization and urbanization on our natural world. Using a combination of detailed linework, washes of vibrant colour, and typgography, I’ve tried to capture the playful nature of the source material, while also communicating the core themes.
